A person who spiked candy with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two boys aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on late November.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.
The defendant played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and tell them to consume candy "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She said the man had been able to explain this repeatedly as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about the situation, justifiably.
"They resolved" to have a look in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC said items including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his concerns.
She explained the defendant continued to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that point," she continued.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
Mrs Prior stated the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement a second time.
She stated the man then conducted the "candy game" in a space of five youngsters.
